Wilmington Health’s board-certified dermatologists, specialized nurse practitioners, and physician assistants are able to provide complete care for all skin problems, including acne, rosacea, and moles. We also diagnose and treat rashes such as psoriasis and eczema. We are experts when it comes to evaluation, consultation, and surgery for various kinds of skin cancers. Our comprehensive and innovative range of dermatologic therapies include laser and photodynamic treatments.

Backed by our combined medical experience, we offer cosmetic solutions for a variety of skin concerns. Spider veins, Telangiectasias, sun-induced pigmentation and unwanted hair are treated with ease using a Cynosure Apogee Elite laser.

Signs of aging including frown lines, worry lines and a loss of volume are treated with Botox injections and Restylane fillers. Our providers are skilled injectors who will listen to your concerns and help you achieve your desired results.

Reveal a brighter complexion with Glytone Chemical Peels. Choose from a Jessner Peel, Mandelic Peel and Glycolic Acid 50% to diminish blemishes, visible signs of aging and discolored skin.

In addition, we carry skin care products from Avene and Topix Pharmaceuticals. We also offer a variety of sunscreens from EltaMD and Colorescience. Not sure what your skin needs? Schedule a free consultation with our aesthetician.

We recommend these products based upon the needs of the patient. We welcome patients of all ages and insurances.

Dermatologists specialize in diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the skin, hair, and nails, which means their expertise goes far beyond what many patients expect.

Skin conditions:

  • Acne and rosacea
  • Eczema and psoriasis
  • Rashes, allergies, and infections
  • Skin cancer and precancerous lesions
  • Warts, cysts, and benign growths

Hair concerns:

  • Hair thinning and hair loss (including alopecia)
  • Scalp conditions like dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis
  • Changes in hair texture or shedding patterns

Nail conditions:

  • Fungal infections
  • Brittle or discolored nails
  • Nail changes that may signal systemic health issues

If something doesn’t look, feel, or heal right, whether it’s a persistent rash or sudden hair loss, it’s worth getting checked

A full-body skin exam is one of the most effective tools for early detection of skin cancer, and it’s quick, simple, and non-invasive.

Here’s what to expect:

  • You’ll be asked about your medical history and any specific concerns
  • A provider will examine your skin from head to toe, including areas you may not easily see (like your scalp and back)
  • Any suspicious spots may be measured, photographed, or biopsied if needed

Most appointments take about 10–20 minutes, and they can truly be life-saving. Annual skin checks are recommended for many adults, especially those with risk factors like sun exposure or a personal/family history of skin cancer.

Knowing what to look for between visits is just as important as your annual exam. One of the most helpful tools is the ABCDE rule for identifying potential melanoma:

  • A – Asymmetry: One half doesn’t match the other
  • B – Border: Irregular, jagged, or blurred edges
  • C – Color: Multiple colors or uneven shading
  • D – Diameter: Larger than a pencil eraser (about 6mm)
  • E – Evolving: Any change in size, shape, color, or symptoms

Also keep an eye out for:

  • Sores that don’t heal
  • Spots that bleed, itch, or crust
  • New growths or rapidly changing lesions

If you notice anything unusual, don’t wait. Early evaluation is key.

There’s a lot of misinformation out there when it comes to skin health. Let’s clear up a few common myths:

Myth: “I only need sunscreen on sunny days.”

Fact: UV rays are present year-round, even on cloudy days.

Myth: “Skin cancer only affects older adults.”

Fact: Skin cancer can occur at any age, and rates are rising in younger populations.

Myth: “Acne is just a teenage problem.”

Fact: Adult acne is very common, especially in women.

Myth: “If a mole isn’t raised, it’s not dangerous.”

Fact: Some of the most serious skin cancers can be flat and subtle.

Taking care of your skin doesn’t have to be complicated. A few simple habits can make a big difference:

  • Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen daily (SPF 30 or higher)
  • Avoid tanning beds
  • Perform monthly skin self-checks
  • Schedule routine dermatology visits

Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and it often tells a story about your overall health. Paying attention to changes and seeking care early can help you stay healthier, longer.

If you’re unsure whether something is worth a visit, the answer is almost always yes. Dermatologists are here not only to treat conditions, but to help prevent them and give you peace of mind.
