In this facility, patients with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) undergo diagnostic angiography and receive treatments including transluminal peripheral atherectomy, balloon angioplasty, and stent placement. Endovenous laser ablation therapy for varicose veins is also offered. In addition, patients on hemodialysis are able to undergo salvage procedures for their dialysis access. Virtually all of these minimally invasive procedures are performed under local anesthesia with recovery times of one hour or less. In addition to the state-of-the-art office-based practice of vascular surgery, Wilmington Health surgeons offer a comprehensive program of hospital-based vascular treatments including:
- Carotid endarterectomy and carotid stenting for prevention of strokes
- PAD treatments ranging from transluminal peripheral atherectomy and angioplasty to peripheral atherectomy and arterial bypass
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) using traditional open AAA repair and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair
- Thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) repair
- Limb salvage surgery for removal of tumors in a limb (arm or leg) without removal of the entire limb. The ultimate goal is to preserve the use and appearance of the limb.
- Varicose Vein repair and treatments
- Deep Vein Thrombosis surgical repair and treatments
- May Thurner Syndrome diagnosis and treatment
All of the above conditions are linked to The Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS). SVS is a not-for-profit professional medical society, composed primarily of vascular surgeons, that seeks to advance excellence and innovation in vascular health through education, advocacy, research, and public awareness.
