Cosmetic Dermatology

Laser hair removal

Wilmington Health is proud to offer Cosmetic Dermatology services to our community. We have a licensed aesthetician who partners with our Dermatology providers to provide services for skin maintenance and beautification. A Licensed Aesthetician can perform a variety of cosmetic procedures, including laser treatments, chemical peels, and micro-needling, just to name a few. I can also analyze skin and help create custom skin care regimens.

Lasers

At Wilmington Health Dermatology, we have both a Cynosure Apogee Elite and a Candela VBeam Perfecta laser machines.

The Cynosure Apogee Elite utilizes YAG 1064 nm and Alexandrite 755 nm laser wavelengths to target permanent laser hair reduction and the treatment of pigmented and vascular lesions. This machine safely and effectively treats all skin types and tones.

The Candela VBeam Perfecta is a Pulsed Dye Laser that utilizes a 595 nm laser wavelength to effectively treat a range of vascular lesions, including telangiectasias, cherry angiomas, rosacea, and port wine stains. The Candela VBeam is widely known as the gold standard in its class.

Chemical Peels

Wilmington Health Dermatology offers Glytone chemical peels. Choose from a Mandelic, 50 % Glycolic Acid or Jessner Peel. Chemical peels are solutions made up of acids that are applied to the skin for only a short period of time and then neutralized. These acids penetrate into the layers of your skin to exfoliate and promote cell turnover to reveal brighter and healthier-looking skin. Minimal peeling, dryness and itching of the treated skin post-peel is to be expected, but does not always occur.

Micro-needling

Micro-needling is a procedure in which many tiny needles are punctured into the skin to create micro channels. This triggers your body’s natural healing response and promotes new formation of skin cells, collagen and elastin production. At Wilmington Health Dermatology, we use a SkinPen micro-needling device. This device utilizes single-use cartridges that contain 14 needles to effectively treat scars, uneven pigmentation, and wrinkles on the face and neck. Topical numbing is typically necessary to make this procedure more comfortable.

Our Licensed Aesthetician, Kenan Caldwell

Kenan Caldwell is a Licensed Aesthetician. She is extremely passionate about skin health and helping people achieve the skin of their dreams. Her approach is both holistic and medicinal. She believes skin health starts from within but can be improved and maintained with cosmetic procedures and proper skin care habits. She enjoys getting to know her clients, working with them, and helping them achieve their desired results.

Botox and Filler

We offer cosmetic injectables, including Botox and a variety of Restylane fillers. Botulinum toxin, also known as Botox, is used to temporarily restrain muscles from moving. It can be used to prevent new fine lines and wrinkles from forming and to smooth out existing ones. Botox is FDA approved to temporarily improve the appearance of forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet.

Filler is primarily composed of Hyaluronic Acid, a substance that naturally occurs in the human body to provide moisture, elasticity and volume to the skin. Restylane fillers utilize Hyaluronic Acid in conjunction with lidocaine to add back lost volume to the skin. Fillers can be used in a variety of areas including lips, nasolabial folds, cheeks and chin. We carry Restylane Kiss, Restylane Lift and Restylane Defyne to address various areas of concern.
