Biography
A highly skilled and dedicated physician, Dr. Hunter McLaughlin brings a strong background in evidence-based care, procedural expertise, and patient advocacy. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. McLaughlin’s academic journey began at Appalachian State University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Exercise Science and a minor in Chemistry.
Dr. McLaughlin has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to patient care, clinical research, and medical education. His published research in pediatric anesthesia and infection control highlights his analytical approach and dedication to improving outcomes across diverse patient populations. He has actively contributed to medical conferences on both national and local levels, presented on a wide range of topics from flecainide toxicity to shared decision-making, and participated in multiple hospital committees, including the Code Blue and Program Evaluation Committees. His hands-on proficiency in procedures—from intubation to ultrasound-guided interventions—further strengthens his ability to provide comprehensive internal medicine care.
Equally notable is Dr. McLaughlin’s compassion for patients and service to the community. From coaching youth sports to volunteering as an EMT and participating in the “Walk With a Doc” initiative, he has shown a genuine passion for connecting with individuals beyond the clinical setting. As he joins the Porters Neck team, Dr. McLaughlin brings not only medical excellence but also a personable, collaborative spirit that will undoubtedly benefit his patients and colleagues alike.
