Biography

Emily Western, MSN, CNM, WHNP-BC, is a dedicated and compassionate certified nurse midwife providing full-scope obstetric and gynecologic care at Wilmington Health OB/GYN. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University and brings a strong clinical foundation in both inpatient and outpatient women’s health. Emily is deeply committed to delivering evidence-based care, ensuring that every clinical decision is grounded in the latest research while honoring each patient’s individual preferences, values, and birth experience.

Emily’s background includes hands-on experience managing low-risk pregnancies, supporting women through labor and delivery, and providing comprehensive prenatal, postpartum, and gynecologic care. She has cared for patients across diverse clinical settings, from community birth centers to hospital-based practices, where she has performed vaginal deliveries, conducted fetal monitoring, and supported both medicated and unmedicated births. In addition, she offers a wide range of gynecologic services, including contraceptive counseling and placement, routine exams, and postpartum evaluations focused on maternal recovery, lactation support, and newborn wellbeing.

Known for her nurturing presence and calm, reassuring approach, Emily prioritizes building meaningful relationships with the mothers and families she serves. She believes that compassionate care, patient education, and shared decision-making are essential to positive outcomes and empowering experiences. Whether guiding a first-time mother through pregnancy or supporting a growing family, Emily is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where patients feel heard, respected, and confidently cared for at every stage of their journey.

In her free time, Emily enjoys yoga, beach days, and local hikes. She loves spending time with her husband and their big dog, Merlin, who keeps life fun and active. As a self-proclaimed foodie, she also enjoys exploring new restaurants and local coffee spots.
