Biography

Dr. Charles H. Black IV is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in adult joint reconstruction, primary and revision joint replacement, fracture management, sports-related injuries, and comprehensive musculoskeletal care. He completed an Adult Joint Reconstruction Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine following his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital Macomb–Warren Campus. Dr. Black earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine after completing post-baccalaureate studies at Michigan State University and a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Hampton University.

Dr. Black brings more than a decade of experience providing both surgical and non-surgical orthopaedic care in community hospitals and regional health systems. His clinical expertise encompasses primary and revision hip and knee replacement, complex fracture management, arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee disorders, pediatric orthopaedics, sports medicine, and the management of musculoskeletal infections. During his fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, he participated in more than 500 adult reconstruction procedures, including a significant volume of complex revision joint replacements. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of practice settings across the United States, providing advanced orthopaedic care while maintaining a strong focus on evidence-based surgical techniques and optimizing functional outcomes.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Black has contributed to orthopaedic research involving femoral neck fracture fixation and the development of surgical training modules for femoral component positioning in total hip arthroplasty. His professional background also includes experience in clinical research and pharmaceutical safety, providing a unique foundation in medical science and regulatory processes.
