Biography

Andrea Nance, MSN, FNP-BC, is a highly experienced Family Nurse Practitioner who brings more than two decades of advanced clinical practice to Wilmington Health Today’s Care +. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and is currently completing a post-master’s degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) while serving as a Doctoral Candidate pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Her doctoral work focuses on improving culturally competent hypertension education for Hispanic adults, reflecting her passion for reducing health disparities and advancing equitable healthcare.

Throughout her career, Andrea has cared for patients in diverse healthcare settings, including privately owned family practice clinics, hospital-based medicine, surgical care, primary care, and high-volume urgent care centers throughout North and South Carolina. She has extensive experience diagnosing and treating acute illnesses and injuries, performing minor procedures, interpreting diagnostic studies, and managing chronic diseases across the lifespan. Her broad clinical expertise, combined with certifications in Family Practice, Geriatric Nursing, Pain Management, and FMCSA Medical Examination, enables her to provide evidence-based, compassionate care tailored to each patient’s individual needs.

Andrea has a special interest in culturally competent care and believes that understanding each patient’s unique background, values, and experiences is essential to achieving the best possible health outcomes. She is committed to building meaningful relationships with her patients through collaboration, education, and shared decision-making. By taking the time to listen carefully and communicate clearly, she ensures every patient feels respected, empowered, and actively involved in their healthcare journey.

Whether caring for patients with acute illnesses, injuries, or chronic medical conditions, Andrea strives to provide exceptional, patient-centered care that promotes health, wellness, and long-term quality of life.

Outside of work, Andrea enjoys spending time with her family, reading, gardening, and working on a variety of creative crafting projects with her mother and daughter. She values lifelong learning, creativity, and finding balance through the simple joys of family, nature, and books.
