Wilmington Health Lifestyle and Obesity Medicine

Would you like to positively impact your health every day?

Everyday habits, such as the food we eat, how much and how well we sleep, and our physical activity and stress levels can have a powerful impact on health and on our risk for several common diseases. When one of these lifestyle areas is not as healthy as it could be, it tends to affect the other aspects as well. This imbalance can contribute to diseases such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease. Lifestyle medicine focuses on harnessing the power of everyday habits to promote health, and to prevent, control and possibly even reverse some of these conditions. Through Wilmington Health Lifestyle and Obesity Medicine, you will receive evidence-based recommendations and coaching to help you reach your personalized goals.  Healthy lifestyle changes are recommended as initial management for these conditions because studies show these changes can be effective and are low risk. If weight loss is a goal, many patients can achieve a healthier weight while seeing improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar. Adopting healthier habits can also help to reduce chronic inflammation that contributes to many diseases.

Lifestyle medicine puts you in the driver’s seat and allows you to take charge of your health. Together with your primary care provider, we are a team working toward better health for you!

"Dr. Mough has been able to help me understand what nutrition is about. She has taught me that nutrition is not so much a restriction, but is more of a benefit. I have already started seeing success. I don’t like to take medications, and I feel like these plans will help me decrease my need for some medications going forward."
