Biography

Dr. McWilliams attended medical school at Georgetown University Medical School. He completed his internship and residency at the Osler Medical Training Program at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Dr. McWilliams completed his cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology fellowships at The Cleveland Clinic and served two years as the Chief Cardiology Fellow.

Dr. McWilliams is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine (2007), Cardiovascular Disease (2005), and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology (2007).

In 2013, Dr. McWilliams changed his focus from cardiology to internal medicine. As an internist, he encourages healthy lifestyles and prevention of disease. His background in cardiology is especially beneficial for treating patients who are at risk or suffer from heart disease.

Outside of Wilmington Health, most of Dr. McWilliams’ free time is spent doing family activities like fishing, kayaking, and coaching his kids’ soccer teams.

Clinical Interests

Preventive health using diet, exercise, and wellness to prevent disease and using appropriate medical therapies. Embodies a team-based medical approach to assist patients in achieving their wellness goals. Utilizes Wilmington Health Patient Portal for enhanced provider team to patient communications.
