“The Wilmington Health CCMA program has been an amazing opportunity for me to learn more about the medical field while building personal options for job growth. As a WH Patient Representative, I was not in a position to be able to leave my job to go back to school and pay to take classes while not earning an income. My natural curiosity about science and a desire to help others initially led me to ask questions about this program and what it entailed. The program descriptor of online learning, the self-study required outside of work hours, clinical location assignments and classroom experiences were all spot-on, so I knew exactly what I was getting into. The support from the CCMA program instructors as well as my classmates helped me through some of the more difficult portions of the program. The wide variety of guest speakers at Friday afternoon classes and the mix of preceptors that I had for clinical rotation assignments on Wednesdays have given me an excellent big-picture view of Wilmington Health and the vast array of services it offers to our community. I’m so proud to be part of this organization and very grateful to have had such a unique opportunity to grow professionally from what I’ve learned in the Wilmington Health CCMA program.”

It was fun to go through the different departments and see how each one navigates as a CCMA, as well as the differences in responsibilities and tasks within the specialty areas.
