Wilmington Health Featured in Optum One Marketing Materials
In a move toward value-based care, Wilmington Health has been using analytics provided by Optum One to empower patients to choose physicians based on publicly available doctors’ ratings and patient satisfaction surveys. Analytics have also helped decrease hospitalization rates, readmission rates, and emergency room visits, saving individual Medicare patients almost 12 percent since 2010.
Based on these impressive results, Optum One created a video and case study detailing Wilmington Health’s success.
“We are honored to be showcased as an Optum One success story,” said Jeff James, Wilmington Health CEO. “Analytics are an invaluable part of Wilmington Health’s processes as we are continually measuring quality, patient satisfaction, and our patient populations. And we are seeing improvements in every area.”
Wilmington Health is also involved in clinical research, which is not only helping patients, it’s saving lives. Becky Fowler was enrolled in a clinical study for high cholesterol at WH Research. During routine blood work, researchers found a rare form of leukemia that could have been fatal if not caught.
According to James, analytics and clinical research go hand in hand. “[The Optum One platform] improves patient engagement and satisfaction. It reduces the cost of care. It’s demonstrated to improve outcomes,” he said.
