Biography

Dr. Malithi Jayasundara MD, RhMSUS (Dr. Jay) is an experienced board-certified rheumatologist focused on providing individualized patient care for complex disease conditions. In addition to various rheumatological diseases, she is also interested in working with women in reproductive age with autoimmune diseases. She has been practicing since 2017 as a rheumatologist in Bangor, Maine and Durham, North Carolina prior to joining Wilmington Health.

Dr. Jay completed her Rheumatology fellowship at Duke University in 2017. She grew up in Sri Lanka and graduated from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine from University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria. At Duke, Dr. Jay was involved in multiple publications and other scholarly activities. She also possesses a Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Certification in Rheumatology.
