Biography

Dr. Tanner was born in Los Angeles, CA, when her father was on sea duty with the US Navy. Her family went back home to Chicago, IL, where she spent most of her childhood.

During school Dr. Tanner participated in sports (lettering in tennis in high school and college) and music (Chicago all city chorus, Millikin University choir, and University of Illinois chorale). She was valedictorian of her high school class, graduated summa cum laude from Millikin University, and was a teaching assistant at the University of Illinois at Chicago while obtaining her master’s degree. She was also first runner up to Miss Illinois in the Miss America state pageant.

Dr. Tanner graduated from Rush Medical College in Chicago. She completed her internship and residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. She was certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 1991 and has recertified every 10 years. She has worked at Wilmington Health as a specialist in dermatology since her graduation from her residency.

She, her husband, and their two sons enjoy camping, boating, and life in general.
