Families are in good hands with Dr. Marte and his team. One tip - use Wilmington Health’s patient portal, it is a vital tool for pacing with the oncology team. In the beginning, I called in most questions and now realize that slows them down and creates extra work. Nurse Jed and Nurse Ethel are gems and I feel so loved by them. Ashley and Jen in the infusion center stay on top of critical appointments, plus they maintain a serene waiting room for families going through perhaps the roughest time of their lives. Dr. Marte is highly experienced and knowledgeable, he’s taking care of many families in a coastal town in dire need of more doctors, especially specialists. I’m blessed to have him in our corner.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Marte and his team. I was referred to them during my pregnancies due to complications I had. My conditions were looked into thoroughly and plans put into action to address any concerns. They also put follow up appointments in place after delivery to make sure there is nothing concerning that goes beyond pregnancy related issues. Aside from being great with respect to their medical competency, all of the staff I have interacted with are very compassionate. I was at an appointment during my last pregnancy and ended up experiencing extremely blurred vision. A staff member stayed with me until my husband could get there and Dr. Marte reached out to my MFM doctor to confirm the steps that needed to be taken. I got to the hospital and my OBGYN was already aware of what was going on. Sure enough, I was preeclamptic and I was put on the schedule to deliver my daughter that evening. All this to say, I am so thankful I was in Dr. Marte's office when this started out. They were reassuring and helpful in what could have been much scarier situation.

Doctor Marte impresses me in that he takes time to question my understanding regarding my care. He does this to better inform me on my total care. Some people may be put off by this approach and simply want the doctor to tell them what is next. This is a better approach because it encourages each patient to be a better advocate for their own health. Thank you Doctor Marte.
