Wilmington Health Vascular Surgery Offering Free Screenings

Wilmington Health Vascular Surgery is offering free peripheral artery disease (PAD) screenings starting Friday, December 13 from 1-4 p.m. at the Brunswick Forest office.

Wilmington Health Vascular Surgery uses the ankle-brachial index to detect PAD. This painless, non-invasive test only takes a few minutes and is highly accurate. PAD can occur when the arteries in your legs are unable to receive oxygenated blood because of plaque or calcium buildup. Individuals with PAD may experience pain in the hips, buttocks, thighs, shins, knees, and upper feet. Risk factors for PAD include aging, diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol, obesity, and lack of exercise.

If Leland is not a convenient location for you, free screenings will also be available at the Porters Neck office on December 20 from 1-4 p.m and at the Medical Center Drive office on December 30 from 1-4 p.m. If you have any questions regarding the PAD screenings, please call 910.763.6289.

Wilmington Health Vascular Surgery’s team includes Philip Brown Jr., MD, FACS; Charles Neuwirth, MD, FACS; Charles Scott II, MD, FACS; and John McElhinney, PA-C. It is conveniently located at 1202 Medical Center Drive, Wilmington; 1333 South Dickinson Drive, Suite 140, Leland; and 8114 Market Street, Wilmington.
