Wilmington Health Expands Department of Family Medicine

Wilmington Health's Department of Family Medicine welcomes Nicholas Jernigan, MD. He will see patients at Brunswick Forest, 1333 South Dickinson Drive, Suite 140, in Leland.

"We're striving to bring the best providers to Wilmington Health," said Jeff James, Chief Executive Officer of Wilmington Health. "When physicians of Dr. Jernigan's caliber come to Wilmington, it's truly raising the bar in terms of healthcare."

In the Department of Family Medicine, Dr. Jernigan diagnoses and treats non-surgical illnesses or disorders from infancy through adulthood and promotes wellness care for patients of all ages. He brings a particular interest in treating children and adults with special needs including but not limited to Down Syndrome and Autism.

Dr. Jernigan received bachelor's degrees in biology and psychology from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He went to medical school at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. His residency was completed in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX.
