Hospitalists are physicians typically trained in Internal Medicine or Family Practice who specialize in hospital inpatient care. Wilmington Health's team of hospitalists are experienced in dealing with the types of acute medical illnesses that bring a patient into the hospital, like pneumonia, meningitis, and a myriad of other conditions. In addition to their specialized medical knowledge, hospitalists are familiar with the inner workings of the hospital, and are able to facilitate interactions with ancillary services such as physical and occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, social services, and nursing case management. Our hospitalists stay in close contact with patients' primary care physicians and specialists to keep them informed of their condition.
