Clinical Pharmacy
In collaboration with Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Wilmington Health offers a clinical pharmacy service based at our 1202 Medical Center Drive location. This complimentary service is provided by Ted Hancock, PharmD, CGP, CPP Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice. In 2010, Dr. Hancock became a clinical pharmacist practitioner, which means, as with a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant, that medication regimen changes can be implemented during the visit if appropriate. There are fewer than 200 prescribing pharmacists in the nation and Wilmington Health is proud to offer this unique service to our customers.
Services offered by the Clinical Pharmacy include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Diabetes education and management
- Medication reconciliation drawing from multiple sources to ensure your regimen is correct
- Medication and disease state counseling
- Medication therapy management and modification
- Assistance with financial and adherence issues
- Medicare Part D enrollment issues and Low Income Subsidy (LIS) applications
- Collaboration with primary provider for visits, treatments, and mentoring
Dr. Hancock, a residency-trained, board-certified Geriatric Pharmacist, and his fourth-year pharmacy students are here to help you understand, optimize, and maintain your medication therapy.
Patients interested in meeting our pharmacist as part of their visit are asked to advise their provider. Visits with Clinical Pharmacy are typically held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in one-hour time slots.
To ensure the most effective visit possible, please bring all your medication, supplements, and herbals to your appointment.
